New Silicon-proven Data Converters in 65nm
MIPS Technologies’ 65nm data converters for broadband communications, digital broadcast receivers and video applications are now silicon-proven. With these IP blocks and MIPS’ engineer-to-engineer SoC integration support, developers can dramatically reduce design time, cost and risk.
- The high-speed A-to-D converter (ADC) (CI3536tn) is the most compact 65nm ADC available in the IP market today. It is a 10-bit, 102 MHz dual ADC with IQ matching, targeted for the Rx path of wireless broadband communications (WiFi, mWiMAX/Wibro) and digital broadcast receivers. With internal references, dynamic power scaling and programmable full-scale range with a single 1.2V supply, the core is 40% smaller than other cores in its class.
- The (CI8537tn) is a 10-bit, 160 MHz dual D-to-A converter (DAC) for use in the Tx path of WiFi/mWiMAX systems. Its high performance makes this DAC ideal for applications like video encoders. A combination of low power dissipation, power saving modes and implementation in a low-power 65nm CMOS process make it a great fit for battery-powered operation or handheld devices like PDAs.

- The (CI3423tn) is a 10-bit, 205 MHz single ADC targeted for applications including video and DVB-T. It is the most compact high-speed ADC in the IP market.
MIPS Technologies also offers new data converters in 90nm and 65nm. For Ultra wide Band (UWB) systems, the ADC and DAC (CI3419im and CI8529im) for the Rx and Tx paths are now available.
New 90nm HDMI PHY
Following the recent launch of its 65nm HDMI IP solutions, MIPS Technologies is extending its HDMI portfolio by launching HDMI solutions in 90nm (CI22410tm). The HDMI PHY IP cores are among the industry’s most competitive in the market, with key features including:
- Analog programmability to allow safe integration within a system
- Area below 1mm2
- Application-specific solutions ranging from low-power IP for mobile applications to standard IP for high-performance applications
- Power consumption below 60mW for low-power applications
HDMI IP solutions in other technology nodes will be made available throughout the year. Read more about MIPS Technologies’ HDMI IP solutions here.
New USB 2.0 High Speed Controller 1v2 Available Now!
MIPS Technologies offers a “one-stop shop” for USB solutions, reducing integration risk through complete USB subsystems. With MIPS, designers have access to IP blocks for all of their USB needs.
The latest release of MIPS Technologies’ USB link controller core is available now. The USB 2.0 High-Speed Controller 1v2 is a family of highly-optimized, low gate count IP cores that allow system developers to implement compact, cost-effective, low-power USB-based SoC solutions. The family includes versions optimized for device (HS-DEV), single-port host (HS-SPH), On-The-Go (HS-OTG), and multi-port host (HS-MPH). Learn more here (CI13412), (CI13512), (CI13612), and (CI13712).
The transceiver interface supports all currently defined standards, including UTMI+, ULPI (including both SDR and DDR modes), serial, and IC_USB (supporting full-speed inter-chip). The USB High-Speed Controllers are perfectly matched with MIPS Technologies’ vast portfolio of USB physical interfaces, and are also compatible with its HSIC (high-speed inter-chip) USB PHY.
