I agree with what Gary says. Would love to see MIPS branch out into some kind of computer. Keep up the top work all of you.

Most of our products are sold for application-specific chips rather than general-application chips. To our knowledge, there are no rootable 1074K or 1004K systems as of yet. Thanks for your interest. Feel free to join our development blog community, where we would surely post when such a system becomes available.

I recently purchased one on these 7inch Ainol Tablets. It is a fairly polished product. One of the issues is that the NDK that google provides target's ARM chips directly. For most apps, this is not a problem. However, for other apps, they simply won't work on the MIPS android device. Another issue is that Flash does not work although Flash on MIPS (not specifically Android MIPS) has been achieved.

We are actively working to bring Skype to these devices by the middle of the year and we are reaching out to others as well, such as Fring. We are also looking to get MIPS support for Google Talk. We will post updates on our Facebook page as information becomes available.
Interesting results! Can you point me to any affordable (rootable/bootable) devices using the 1074Kf™ or 1004Kf™? I'm particularly interested in something I could use as a home automation controller using Linux or, maybe, Android@Home but might also be interested in tablets.

I've been a fan of the MIPS architecture since working at Concurrent on the MAXION™(R4400) many years ago and would love to have some modern MIPS MC+MT kit to tinker with.

Our computer systems would run a lot quicker if they decreased the amount of functionality it currently has. If users could do the minimum like apple computers, they would run a lot faster.
My opinion

I think MIPS needs to catch-up a few more MCU vendors other than Microchip. Though Microchip is great, user always prefers an architecture with greater number of "brotherly" vendors. This is especially important for the companies with large scale production so they can switch their design easily when "screwed-up" by a vendor.
