john

John Bourgoin, Chief Executive Officer and President


Mr. Bourgoin brings more than 30 years of semiconductor experience to his role, drawing from past roles in business management and microprocessor development at MIPS Technologies and AMD, and earlier, in engineering management at Motorola Semiconductor Products Division in Phoenix.

Previously, Mr. Bourgoin was senior vice president of Silicon Graphics, Inc., and president of the MIPS Group of SGI. Prior to that, he was group vice president of the Computation Products Group at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Mr. Bourgoin received a B.S.E.E. from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University.
Maury-Austin

Maury Austin, Chief Financial Officer


Mr. Austin joined MIPS Technologies in 2008 with more than 25 years of corporate finance experience including executive positions at Apple Computer and General Electric Company. He is experienced in all aspects of corporate finance and strategy, including business model development and implementation, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions and corporate funding.

Most recently, Mr. Austin served as SVP & CFO of Portal Software, Inc., where, working with the executive staff, he drove the redevelopment of the company's business model and was instrumental in its subsequent acquisition by Oracle Corporation. Mr. Austin also played critical roles in improving shareholder value at Southwall Technologies, Symmetricom, Inc. and Vicinity Corporation.

Mr. Austin holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
John Derrick

John Derrick, Chief Operating Officer

John Derrick joins MIPS Technologies as president and general manager of the company's newly formed Processor Business Group, following the recent acquisition of Chipidea. Mr. Derrick will assume overall responsibility for directing and growing the microprocessor and architecture business worldwide, as well as aligning with the Analog Business Group to deliver key solutions across a wide array of digital entertainment, home networking and portable media markets.

Mr. Derrick began his career developing simulation models and modeling methodologies for microprocessor logic and high-frequency analog/RF devices at Texas Instruments. After that, he worked for IBM Corporation for eight years in a number of roles-including the implementation of system controllers for x86, PowerPC, and Power microprocessors. In 1999, he was the sole founder of semiconductor IP startup, Chicory Systems, and served as CEO until the company was sold to Parthus Technologies-where he became an executive vice president.

Following his time with Austin Ventures as an entrepreneur in residence, Mr. Derrick became a founder and CEO of Conformative Systems, which was later acquired by Intel Corporation-where he was appointed general manager of the Acceleration Products Division. Over his 20-year career, Mr. Derrick was granted 19 patents for his work in systems, software and processors at IBM and has filed an additional two dozen patents at subsequent companies. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University.

Sandy Creighton, Vice President of Human Resources


Before assuming her current position, Ms. Creighton was Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for MIPS Technologies from June 1998. Prior to joining MIPS Technologies, Ms. Creighton was deputy general counsel at Sun Microsystems, Inc., serving as director of the products and technology legal department for the Computer Systems Group, Sun's largest division.

Prior to joining Sun in 1991, Ms. Creighton was a business associate at the law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, where she provided a broad range of services for clients ranging from start-up ventures with new technologies to Fortune 500 companies.

Ms. Creighton holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from Stanford University and a J.D. from Northwestern University.
Sergio Dias

Sergio Pena Dias, Vice President of Operations

Before assuming his current position with MIPS Technologies, Mr. Dias was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Chipidea, where he had corporate-wide responsibilities for finance and administration, legal, human resources, quality, information management systems and investor relations. He also played a key role in MIPS Technologies' acquisition of Chipidea.

Before joining Chipidea, Mr. Dias held several positions over the past 20 years in the banking and information technology markets. For six years, he was CFO for Oracle Corporation in Portugal and was CEO of Timestamp Information Systems for two years. Additionally, Mr. Dias was a non-executive Board Member of RD-Rede de Diagnóstico S.A., an important holding of five companies in the healthcare arena. Previously, he held management positions at Data General Portugal (a Portuguese subsidiary of Data General Corporation, USA), and Banco Português do Atlântico (BPA), one of the top four Portuguese Banks.

Mr. Dias holds a degree in Economics from the Portuguese Catholic University, and a Post-Graduate degree in Management from the University of Edinburgh. He also holds an MBA from ENPC Paris.

Jose Franca

José Epifânio da Franca, President & General Manager
Analog Business Group

Before assuming his current position, Dr. Franca was president, chairman and CEO of Chipidea-Microelectrónica, S.A., which he co-founded in 1997. Under his leadership, Chipidea became the world's number one provider of analog/mixed-signal intellectual property.

Dr. Franca is a professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon, Portugal. He founded the university's Integrated Circuits and Systems Group and the IST Centre of Microsystems, and was also a member of the IST Executive Council. Dr. Franca obtained the degree of Agregado from the Technical University of Lisbon (UTL), and was a member of the University's Senate. He served as Secretário de Estado of Education in the Portuguese government from 1991 to 1992, and in 2006, was awarded the "Grand Officer of the Order of Merit" by Portugal Republic President Jorge Sampaio for his entrepreneurial efforts in founding Chipidea.

Dr. Franca holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from IST and a doctorate from Imperial College of Science and Technology in London. He was the first in Portugal to be named an IEEE Fellow, and holds five international patents on switched-capacitor networks.

Brad Holtzinger, Vice President of Worldwide Sales


Mr. Holtzinger joined MIPS Technologies in 2001 as the director of systems solutions and has more than 26 years of embedded industry experience in sales, marketing and engineering.

Mr. Holtzinger was salesman of the year at MIPS Technologies in his first year in sales. Subsequently, in his first year as vice president of sales, the Americas, he led the Americas team to record growth over the prior year. Mr. Holtzinger began his career at Motorola in 1979 and was one of the founding members of the Motorola Computer Group selling VME boards into the embedded market. In 1991 he joined Force Computers and established their embedded systems business unit. Additionally, he has had a successful career selling semiconductors as a manufacturer's representative for companies including Xilinx, PMC-Sierra, and Fujitsu, among others.

Mr. Holtzinger holds a B.S.E.E. degree from Purdue University.
Stuart-Nichols

Stuart Nichols, Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Mr. Nichols brings more than 20 years of legal experience to his role as the company's senior legal advisor. Before assuming his current position, he was vice president and general counsel at KLA-Tencor Corporation, where he had executive responsibility for legal, corporate environmental health and safety, and corporate security. Prior to that, he was vice president, general counsel and secretary for Phoenix Technologies Ltd., and general counsel for Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.

Mr. Nichols received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mark Tyndall, Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Relations


Mark Tyndall joined MIPS Technologies in 2006 as the company's first vice president of business development and corporate relations. In this role, Mr. Tyndall directs M&A activities, identifies and establishes strategic business partnerships and focuses on expanding MIPS Technologies' relationships with the financial community. He joined MIPS Technologies from Infineon Technologies, where he held the position of vice president of business development since 1999, and subsequently assumed North America investor relations in 2002. He also served as a director on the boards of several start-up and Infineon subsidiary companies during this period.

Prior to his career at Infineon, Mr. Tyndall held management positions in product marketing in wireless, multimedia and networking products for Fujitsu Microelectronics, Germany, having earlier begun his career at Philips Semiconductors in the Netherlands as an analog designer.

Mr. Tyndall graduated from DIT Ireland in 1986 (with a BSc from the University of Dublin) and received an MBA in 1998.
