System Navigator™ Probe
for AMD Geode™ GX and LX Processors
The System Navigator™ probe is designed to support the special features and integrated peripherals of the AMD Geode™ GX and Geode LX processors. To learn more about the Geode GX and Geode LX processors, go to this link: AMD Geode Solutions.
On-Chip Instrumentation (OCI®) extensions for software debug and system testing have been jointly developed with AMD and are integrated into the processor. These OCI features provide a powerful debug tool with advanced features at a competitive price.
The System Navigator probe is used for hardware testing and integration, BIOS development, and other firmware/software testing. In addition to hardware and software breakpoints, processor run control, and access to all CPU registers and coprocessor registers, the System Navigator has on-chip trace features. Trace information is decoded and displayed as executed instructions. Trace is captured in on-chip memory (128 x 64-bit frames). The trace window displays disassembled instructions interspersed with system messages such as interrupts and exceptions.
The System Navigator probe connects to the target system using a 14-pin debug connector and optional off-chip trace connector. The System Navigator runs on a Windows® 2000/XP PC or Linux PC over a USB 2.0 port or optional 10/100 Ethernet connection. The GNU-based source debugger program GDB is included, and provides the user with an easy-to-use source level interface in addition to the assembly level debug user interface.
