Setting Up Navigator ICS and FPGAView Floating License Servers

This section contains information and tools to help setup and configure a license server for serving floating licenses for Navigator ICS or FPGAView. Chances are good that you have received a license file from MIPS. If not, then you need to provide the NIC address of the computer that will be serving the licenses to MIPS so that a license file can be created and emailed to you.

The license server must be configured to serve licenses by setting up some processes to run on the license server. The license server must be running at all times. If the server goes down, then licenses cannot be checked out.

Download the correct package below depending on what OS your server is running:

Version

Server Kit Downloads

2.0.0

Download the Windows License Server Kit

Download the Linux License Server Kit

Download Server Kit Instructions (pdf)

2.0.1

Download the Windows License Server Kit

Download the Linux License Server Kit

Download Server Kit Instructions (pdf)

Each kit contains the necessary files for fully configuring a license server machine. The Windows Kit is a zip file and will require a utility capable of unzipping the file. The Linux Kit is a compressed tar file and can be uncompressed using "tar -xzvf ".

You will also want to download the FlexLM End User's Guide (PDF) because it contains all the information you will need to setup the server tools and configure them to serve your licenses. Most of the information you will need will be found in Chapter 9 of this guide.
