Soft Audio Suite
Optimized Audio Algorithms for Digital Consumer Applications
The MIPS™ Soft Audio Suite is a comprehensive set of audio algorithms highly-tuned for MIPS32-Based™ processors commonly used in cost- sensitive consumer applications, ranging from digital cameras to high- definition television SOC designs.Silicon vendors can quickly integrate the MIPS Soft Audio Suite into a MIPS-Based design to reduce time-to-market and lower overall system costs by eliminating the digital signal processor.
Low-Cost Solutions
- SOC designers can employ a dedicated MIPS32® core for audio processing or subsume audio onto the MIPS32 host CPU. In either case, vendors will only need to support one development tool chain.
- Customers can leverage the robust ecosystem of optimized software, development environments, IP and design tools that support the MIPS32 architecture.
- A single audio code base for multiple consumer devices reduces engineering costs.
Quick Time-to-Market
- Each audio algorithm is optimized for best performance on a MIPS32 processor.
- Rigorous testing of decoders, and certification as necessary, ensure the highest quality.
- Algorithms compile with GCC and run with MontaVista Linux and VxWorks.
- Using the common API, future algorithms from MIPS Technologies can be easily incorporated into existing audio driver applications.
Maximize Product Opportunity
- Algorithms can be reused across multiple high-volume consumer applications, ranging from battery-powered devices to home entertainment systems.
- Algorithms support global standards, extending the reach of a single SOC design which can be tailored for multiple regions with the addition of appropriate algorithms:
- Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB)
- Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC)
- Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB)
Applications for MIPS™ Soft Audio Suite Include:
- Digital Cameras and Camcorders
- High-Definition Television (HDTV)
- Personal Video Recorder (PVR)
- Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) Player and Recorder (DVD-Rec)
- Set-Top Box (STB)
- Home Theater-in-a-Box (HTIBs)
- Media Center
- Telematics
