    Hi Ghofrane,

    Glad you got it working.

I’m not sure I understand your question.

    Please keep in mind.
Ingenic is the manufacturer of the JZ4780 SoC on the Ci20.

This mplayer is an old version with modified sources from Ingenic that allow hardware accelerated video decode to run on the jz4780.

    Hi Ghofrane,

Are you running the Ci20 with a Debian 7 image flashed?

Can you please repeat the steps?

Did this error appear immediately, or after a while when many files had been compiled?

    Regards,
    ZubairLK

The reason for this inconvenience is the fact that all countries impose their own legal requirements for sale of products (and charge a lot of money for the privilege).

Ci20 is not legally certified to sell outside of UK/EU/USA. If you have an office in one of these regions, perhaps they can get it and forward it to you.

    Hi Ghofrane,

Please see http://elinux.org/CI20_MPlayer for details on how to get mplayer working on Debian 7 images with kernel 3.0.8

    Hi Ghofrane,

    Welcome to the forum.

I assume you are referring to using gstreamer with the hardware video decoder on the JZ4780 on Debian.

AFAIK, Ingenic don’t have any sort of sdk to use gstreamer with their hardware video decoder. It might be worth checking with them.

Hence, this is still an open task for someone in the Creator community to take up.

A good starting point would be http://elinux.org/CI20_MPlayer relying on kernel 3.0.8.

    Kind Regards,
    ZubairLK

I apologize for the issues you are facing.

Looks like you happen to have a bad board.

Could you please send an RMA request to Sales.Support@imgtec.com. And we will replace it.

Please put a link to this post in the email as well.

    Regards,
    ZubairLK

    Hi tap555,

    Welcome to the forum.

The hardware on the Ci20 does support the details you mention.
Details on the software support below

    • Playing MPEG-2 transport streams

Yes. But on Debian 7 images using Kernel 3.0.8. And Using [1].

    • Playing of MP4-files with h.264 encoding
Yes. But on Debian 7 images using Kernel 3.0.8. And Using [1]

    • Video reception through multicast

Do you mean receiving video from ethernet packets?
Should be fine as that would be a linux kernel thing.
    And ethernet works.

    • Fullscreen-Browser with AJAX- and javascript-support
Again, a software thing. Should be fine as ice-weasel works.
However, it depends on what level of performance do you expect from the Ci20 in this area.

The latest Debian 8 image is better in several aspects but doesn’t support HW accelerated video playback yet.

Also, please keep in mind. Hardware accelerated video playback support in Debian 7 is beta.

    Hi Michel,

    Apologies for the late response.

Does your board hang with Debian 8 images as well?

A common issue is power supply. Please use a 5v 2A supply.

    ZubairLK

    Hi Jonathan,

    Welcome to the forum.

The Ci20 does have SPI support. It is accessible via spidev on Debian 8.

If you wish to use a simpler python wrapper, perhaps you could take a look at [1]

    Hi Tmolloy,

    Welcome to the forum.

You could rsync the contents of your filesystem to any external storage.

Unfortunately, we don’t have an existing utility to make a full image backup yet.

    Contributions are very welcome.

    Thank-you

    Hi,

Could you elaborate on which hardware accelerated graphics operations SDL wants?
Could you try using the openGL backend perhaps?

    Quick google showed.

    Hi,

Good to know that it was a smooth process.

Regarding permissions. I would recommend checking the user/groups/permissions settings in the Debian 8 rootfs and compare it with the ones you have in your distribution. That should give a clue regarding which permissions aren’t correctly configured.

    Hi Michel,

I understand you have the v2 square Ci20 board?

This is unfortunate. The source code for the kernel is available here https://github.com/MIPS/CI20_linux

Do you have a usb to serial port available to connect to the board?

This can show a debug log perhaps when the board hangs. A kernel oops should be generated in usual cases.

    Hi Michel,

Welcome to the forum. Good work on getting Gentoo working on Ci20.
We had some existing work available here http://www.elinux.org/CI20_Distros#Gentoo

We are working internally on releasing the kernel module sources linked with usermode binaries for people looking into OpenGL on distros other than Debian8.

We have already done that for Debian 8 as seen here
    http://elinux.org/CI20_Distros#Debian_8_2015-09-09_Beta

    ZubairLK
